Christmas Gifting Drive

Sunshine is beaming with joy for being part of a meaningful gifting drive on Christmas Eve!

Friends and friends of friends had banded together to pack gift packs for a few elderly homes and care centres. This has been an annual affair started by a colleague of a very good friend of mine and we are so grateful to be able to join in this year with Sunshine :) Apart from the gifting exercise, it was a great chance to meet all these good people and we had lotsa fun in the process. Plus we discovered some great talents amongst these elderly folks! See below!

Packed gift boxes all ready go

Ongoing English class. We are duly impressed with the good pronunciation of the ah gongs and ah mahs!

Poodles handmade by a talented gentleman in his 80s (Please take special noting of the mop of hair on left poodle) & "framing" by a good friend..

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Little sis's vintage inspired pre-wedding photo shoot (Part 1)

As mentioned in the last post, "Homecoming!", my little sis, Ng Ai & her hubby-to-be, Kenneth's pre-wedding shoot with Chris Ling photography was scheduled the day just after Sunshine's homecoming (tell me about being just in time)  AND it got to POUR just as we are setting off... Sigh...

Much thought and planning had been put into the vintage inspired outdoor photo shoot (a full post is needed just on the props preparation process...) and we had initially planned to go two places for the outdoor shoot, one in Alexandra Park and the other in Seletar Reservoir. However, the location had to be reduced to just one due to the terrible weather.

Luckily, Sunshine managed to live up to its name ;p and the skies cleared up once we reached Seletar Reservoir! Whew! Everyone was in high spirits and the shoot went exceptionally well!

Sunshine with the cute couple.. Aww..

To get to these images (though my photography skills and 'idiot' camera are not doing the couple and sunshine justice) a lot of prepping had to be done by the talented photographer, Samuel from Chris Ling Photography! See below!

And, I just have to share this funny incident. While Samuel was busy tying the balloons, we saw this young boy who started pacing up and down Sunshine. He must have walked for almost 10 minutes before finally mustering up his courage to ask, "Uncle, can you sell me a balloon??". He thought Sunshine is a vintage car prop for selling balloons?!? Hee...

A quiet moment after the hectic session..

We leave you with the beautiful scene above and will be posting on part 2 when the photos by the professional is done :)

Homecoming!

Yippee!! My sunshine is finally back home on 14 Dec after more than five long months of waiting! It has been away for way too long.. BUT, if I must say so myself, he is a sight to behold and all the wait this while is worth it ;)

                                                                          Tada!

Pretty boy attracts butterflies.. hee...

The entire restoration process has been agonizing to say the least with lotsa hiccups and negotiation involved with various parties..(we will be posting about it in time to come). Even at the very last minute, we had a few near heart attacks such as the leather seats not being able to fit and its shoes (aka wheels) not having enough bolts and nuts?! Arrggh! This sort of push us all into a frenzy as Sunshine must come home this very day to be in time for my little sis's pre-wedding photo shoot the next day!

Here are some pics taken on this nail bitting homecoming day.

Intense discussions with the technicians at Jackspeed's factory on the installation

Installation finished! Requested for a pic with the very nice sales lady at Jackspeed
who helped to bring Sunshine's interior from drawing board to reality

Sunshine's care takers (left) for over five months in Malaysia.
Father & son duo of a paint and welding workshop

That is all for now folks and do stay tune for next posting on little sis's vintage inspired outdoor pre-wedding shoot!

The Beginnings..

Hi there! This is the very first post on the life of Sunshine, a vanagon (aka caravelle, T3 and/or T25) in Singapore.

Sunshine is a VW bus, born on 16 Dec 1982 in Hanover, Germany. It left its chilly birthplace 3 months later on 28 Mar 1983 to begin an exciting new life in faraway sunny Singapore.... Fast forward to March 2012, Sunshine is now largely forgotten and wasting away in the garage of a 2nd-hand car dealer and doomed to the fate of being scrapped for metal in less than a year.

This blog largely describes the process of how it was rescued, restored and now re-engineered as a beloved lifestyle car with a wonderful new career as a chariot for weddings/events/special occasions and the most photogenic model ever (this is a very proud parent speaking..)!!

Sunshine in progress (4th month into restoration).....
